A recent incident involving the alleged dangerous operation of a dirtbike has police in Labrador reminding people those vehicles are not meant for public road.

On Aug. 7, members of the of Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were on patrol when they observed a youth operating a dirt bike in a dangerous manner in Wabush. When police attempted to stop the bike, the youth increased his speed and fled from police.

It wasn't long before police again observed the same dirt bike in the same area of the community. Again, they attempted to stop the bike and again the bike increased its speed.

After an investigation on the same day, police arrested an 18-year-old male from Labrador City and charged him with two counts of flight from police and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The male was released and is scheduled to appear at court at a later date. The alleged dirt bike in the incident was seized by police.
