Holyrood RCMP charged a pair of drivers on the Trans-Canada Highway last weekend who were travelling well beyond the posted speed limit.
On Saturday, May 25, 2019, shortly after 6:30 p.m., Holyrood RCMP were conducting traffic enforcement on the Trans-Canada Highway near Foxtrap. Two vehicles were observed travelling at speeds more than 51 kms/hr above the posted speed limit.
Both vehicles were stopped by police and the drivers, a 19-year-old man from Portugal Cove-St Philips and a 38-year-old man from Clarke’s Beach, were charged under the Highway Traffic Act for speeds greater than 51 kms/hr above the posted speed limit.
Both men also received a seven-day suspension of their driver’s licence and their vehicles were impounded for three days.
Holyrood reminds the public of continued police efforts towards maintaining road safety.
